Law faculty may check out Law Library materials for one year. Faculty Associates (Adjuncts) may check out materials for 150 days. Law Library materials checked out by law faculty are automatically renewed each month.
Library staff can check out circulating materials from other campus libraries on your behalf, with your permission. This permission must be formalized through the creation of a proxy card. Access Services staff can obtain a proxy card for you. You may also obtain a proxy card for your research assistant, spouse, or other family member. To apply for a proxy card, fill out the application form and return it to Carrie Henteleff or your librarian liaison.
The Law Library has provided four book return locations for your convenience. Two book returns are inside the Law School: in the Faculty Center and inside the Dean's office under the faculty mailboxes. There is an outside book return located north of the Law Library's front doors and is accessible only during hours the Law Library is closed. The book return inside the library is located at the east end of the Circulation Desk. Materials from all ASU libraries may be returned to the Law Library.
Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loan
Library staff strives to ensure that you receive all the materials you need for your research and teaching assignments. We will retrieve requested material from any library on the Tempe campus and check it out to your library account. Most requests for available Tempe campus items are filled by the end of the day. Materials sent from other ASU campuses may take a few days to be delivered. We will also copy or email cases, law review articles, and book chapters as long as the requests conform to federal copyright law. Unless otherwise requested, copying will be done double-sided and two pages to an exposure. Materials not available at ASU will be obtained through Interlibrary Loan.
All library materials requests can be submitted to your librarian liaison. Requests for ASU-owned library materials may also be requested by using the Request function in the online catalog. Interlibrary loan requests may also be submitted by using the Interlibrary Loan request form. Requested materials will be delivered to your law school mailbox.
ASU Libraries' Policies
Law faculty and adjuncts may check out most materials from other ASU Libraries for 150 days. ASU Libraries' materials may be renewed so long as another borrower has not placed a hold on the item. Items from ASU Libraries are subject to recall, and recall polices are strictly enforced. Failure to return an item by the recall due date will result in a fine.
Faculty are responsible for renewing/returning materials from ASU Libraries on time as well as any fines that may accrue. You may view your library account online to check due dates, renew books, and change your email address. To view your account online, use the My Library Account link from the ASU Libraries home page.
Library materials can be renewed in one of three ways:
bring your photo id to the Law Library Circulation Desk.
use the My Library Account
link. You will need your ASURITE ID and password to login.
call the phone renewal line at (480) 965-2595.
